Rainbow Week
Nursery talked about why they are special and unique. They made their own ‘I’m special’ mirrors. Reception made houses to show who is in their family. There are lots of different types of families! In our Rainbow Week assembly Reception class told us all about their work and recited a poem about families.
Year 1 and 2 learnt about all of the different types of families by reading the book- ‘Families, families, families’. They performed the song ‘Families, families, families’ too! The children made their own ‘I am special’ rainbows with writing about why they are special and unique.

Year 3 presented the story ‘And Tango Makes Three’ in our assembly. This is a true story about 2 daddy penguins in New York zoo!.They performed the song ‘It’s a penguin’s life’ brilliantly!
Year 3 made paintings based on aboriginal art. The symbols show different family groups. They were challenged to show as many different family types as they could think of!

Year 4/5 explained what gender stereotypes are and how we can challenge them. They made some wonderful animations to show typical gender stereotypes.
They also studied the life and work of the artist Keith Haring. They made their own artwork in his style.
