Welcome to Year 1
Welcome to Moon Class. We are Year 1 children (5-6 years). There are 15 lovely children in our class and our teacher is Mrs Williams. We hope you enjoy seeing what we get up to this year!
Spring 2
All children have now returned to school, from the Monday 8th March. We are so pleased to see everyone back in the classroom and over the next three weeks our main focus is to ensure everyone settles back into school, to revisit learning taught over the period schools were closed and plan for our next steps in the Summer term to ensure children make rapid progress.
Spring 1 – Remote Learning
During the first part of the spring term, schools have had to close to most children due to the rise in COVID 19 cases. It has been a very challenging and yet, another strange one for us all! Lots of us have been working remotely via Teams with vulnerable and key worker children in school accessing the same work. We are so proud of how all our children have accessed learning and attended live teaching sessions, daily.
Take a look at some of our work we have been completing via remote learning.
Autumn 2
During this half term, we have moved towards a more formal approach to learning. Unfortunately, we did have a two week pod closure however we all worked extremely hard from home, logging into our live teaching sessions daily. We have studied three different texts in English linked to our Recovery Curriculum: The Lion and the Mouse, Ruby’s Worry and After the Fall. We have continued to develop our phonics and maths skills through focused teaching sessions and continuous provision. In PE lessons, we have been improving our aim and throwing skills to score maximum points during target-based games. We have enjoyed learning about Remembrance Day and Children in Need. We have grown in confidence and LOVED all of the Christmas activities, including our party and our Festive Fun Run!
Autumn 1 – Recovery Curriculum
After a long 6 months off school, our main focus this half-term is to create a safe, welcoming and engaging environment based on trust and kindness. Please enjoy looking at all of our fantastic work.
We have spent a lot of time completing challenges through our different areas of continuous provision and developing or social and emotional wellbeing through a Recovery Curriculum approach. We have loved being back in school and seeing our friends!
