Welcome to Bumblebee Class
We are the very youngest children in school at only two years old! We are in a ‘pod’ with Caterpillar and Butterfly class. In EYFS our teachers are Mrs Heron & Mrs Scotter, and our teaching assistants are Miss Fenwick, Mrs Graham and Miss Nicholson. Mrs Graham is our key worker. We have a range of provision on offer for our two-year-olds including the government’s free Play and Learn sessions and this is a fantastic way to support your child’s transition into nursery. Additional sessions can be purchased. Children can join us from the term after their second birthday; applications for places can be made via our school office.
What’s involved in Play and Learn sessions?
Our sessions aim to support children’s social skills and help to prepare them for later life education. We provide opportunities and resources for children to develop their speech, behaviour and creativity. Our 2 year olds can experiment with different mark making tools to prepare them for writing. Provide a range of stories and rhymes which supports learning to read. Explore a variety of sensory materials and textures. As well as accessing the outdoor space which includes a water play area and a large sand pit. Parents will also be able to join in with the fun on our Stay and Play sessions that we hold termly.
We enjoyed our half term holiday and returned to Nursery ready to play and learn with our friends and teachers.
This half term our topic is ‘Seasons and Weather’.
We have all settled into Bumblebee group alongside our Nursery friends from Caterpillar group and we have been getting to know some new staff members and new children.
Our learning is based around the topic, ‘Who am I!’ alongside the theme of Harvest. We will enjoy learning more about each other, our families and our interests.
Along with Caterpillar and Butterfly Class, we enjoyed a visit to Broom House Farm. We had lots of fun exploring the woodland area and then we got to meet some of the animals.
As part of our work on Harvest, we enjoyed making and sharing our own vegetable soup. Lots of children brought in vegetables from home to add to the pot!
At the end of Autumn Term 1, we had a Phonics Stay and Play session and invited our parents to come into school to see how we learn pre-phonic skills. It was great to see so many parents in school. I think our parents were impressed with how well we joined in with all of the activities.
